Real Wedding | Lorraine and Kevin

I love doing destination weddings. I love my job and I love to travel, so put those two elements together and you have me in wedding planning heaven. I was contacted by Lorraine around a year ago. Lorraine and her (then) fiancé Kevin are from Texas and they wanted an authentic African elopement wedding in the bush. Witnessing their pure and incredible love for each other was definitely one of my top experiences of 2016. And the serenity and majestic feeling of saying their “I Do’s” in the secluded African bush fitted so well with who they are.

They hired Kelly Sadie Weddings to bring this elegant safari wedding and all of their ideas to life. With an elegant natural color palette, and so many beautiful and natural South African flowers, we were able to really create the eclectic but romantic ‘African Feel’ she was going for. The Pampas Grass was the best part of the design.

The most special part of the day was watching the groom say his vows with such emotion during the ceremony. It is so rare to see a man that in love with someone, and it was very special to witness. He had all of the suppliers in tears when he read out his vows and talked about his beautiful bride and how much he absolutely adored her. The couple said their “I Dos” among an amazing and lively Xhosa choir, singing traditional love songs and really giving the full African ambience that they were opting for.

It was such an intimate and magical wedding that I am so grateful to have been a part of.
